Mastering Grammar and the Masters of Ignorance

It is not the best time to put together an article when one is feeling very angry....

An English teacher with an ESL website went forward with a promotion of Learn English Adventure, only to publish an article follow up the next day that nobody could learn English without resource to English Grammar books and English Grammar Exercises. The offending article has, I am pleased to say, been removed.

However, all those still enrolled in public education are subject to the all pervading ignorance of Academia and the establishment on which our so called 'civilization' has been built. The offensive article (which is actually not worth printing or quoting) but for our intent and purposes will highlight the horrific depth of ignorance of the global educational system which is so often just intellectual garbage that has no connection with the underlying realities.

The article which follows shows what so much of 'education' has become, fancy words dressed up with no meaning or substance behind them and disconnected from reality and truth. Indeed as this case highlights, 'education' is an exercise in deception.

The anonymous author of this article goes on to describe, by proxy, that learning a second language would never have been possible in the history of the human race before the rise of the industrial revolution, the creation of schools and most importantly Grammar teachers.

The article was called "Mastering Grammar"

"In my view mastering English grammar in the following sequence ensures a firm, solid, and thorough knowledge of English grammar:1. Read a short clear easily understandable explanation of a grammar rule.2. Study several practical usage examples (sentences) illustrating that particular grammar rule. Check yourself whether you have mastered the examples.3. Do several exercises for that rule with communicative content (with sentences that most likely can be used in real life situations).Grammar exercises that contain dialogues, interrogative and statement (or narrative) sentences on everyday topics, thematic texts and narrative stories are especially effective for mastering grammatical structures.Grammar practice should also include exercises in listening comprehension and speaking, not just in reading and writing.Grammar exercises must help learners not only form correct sentences, but also use them correctly in context in real life situations.Contrastive and contextualised exercises give practice in form, meaning and use.It is very important to learners for practising English grammar on their own that there are answers provided to the exercises (the key) in the grammar practice book for self-check.A learner of English can't rely on real life communication alone to be proficient in using grammatically correct English. Learning English grammar from books, audio and video aids is equally indispensable to substantially accelerate mastering of English grammar.Correct oral communication in English is based on knowledge of English phonetics, grammar, vocabulary, and on practice and experience in communicating with native English speakers in real life. I would argue that first a learner must master at least basic English grammar from books with exercises before being able to communicate grammatically correctly in real life with native speakers of English."

End of article.

We could take this article apart line by line, and paragraph by paragraph but it is depressing enough to come into orbit with this type of thinking, without having to expose ourselves to a detailed analysis.

We can assume that this person is a university graduate, and also an English Teacher; more likely a grammar teacher with a vested interest in either flogging grammar books on the internet and too has simply been brainwashed by the system and is kow towing the Academic line.

Now what is interesting here is the absolute absurdity of this article printed on an educational website.

Universities do not teach their students to think, merely to parrot the academic line, without which, had they a career in academia they could make no progress. Indeed it is the academic world that really carries the burden for much of the rape, pillage and wanton destruction of this beautiful planet, Earth, by its materialistic education which has no basis or grounding in truth.

Much will be said about the depths of ignorance to which Academia plummets to in the course of our studies with Learn English Adventure.

Millions of South Africans in the course of its brief history learned to speak one or more of the native languages without ever having to look at a book or meet an African Language grammar teacher (if there is such a thing) and millions of African people learned to speak English or Afrikaans without even attending a school.

The truth of the matter is that those who went to school to learn a second language generally left ten years later unable to speak the language studied.

Certainly this was the case for the Europeans who attended race segregated schools in South Africa; after ten years, few if any of the native English speakers could speak Afrikaans.

The African people however were forced to take all of their lessons in the foreign languages (google search Soweto and Sharpeville uprisings around 1966) so they fared very much better, and those that were able to afford to stay at school mastered their language subjects, unlike their European counterparts.

This article that appeared on an ESL website is such unadulterated nonsense that it can be no surprise that the global educational institutions have brought humanity to the brink of destruction.

Government leaders and big business mogels are after all simply the products of an ignorant materialistic educational system who see life as nothing more than a product to be wrapped in celephane for the consumer market.

It's latest hobby is destroying the blueprint of life in the lab whilst contaminating the ecosphere with genetic pollutants. Never have they given any thought whatsoever to how they are going to clean up this biological catastrophe, which will be the biggest challenge humanity faces in the 21st century. No they are never taught to think. Their heads are disengaged from the source of creation and wisdom and simply filled with intellectual garbage.

One can see so clearly in the article "Mastering Grammar" that it matters not one iota if what you say has absolutely no connection with reality but that it sounds impressive, uses big words and parrots the Academic line.

There are very few people who need to study Grammar, regardless of whether its their first language or second. The purpose of language is to communicate, and hopefully that would mean something relevant, something true, something that was life supporting and something that conveyed an understanding of the deeper mystery of existence. To do so one needs to immerse oneself in the new language. There is no other way.

The academic line of ignorance, is that learning a language is in an intellectual parcel that one understands on the basis of reason.

If one needs to write exams which include Grammar, then students must at some stage take a deeper interest in Grammar studies, enough to satisfy the 'examination boards'.

The preposterous idea that no one in the history of the human race could ever learn a second language before the industrial revolution and the implementation of schools and grammar teachers could only come from one of these inane academics who have absolutely no connection with the source of wisdom, but are simply talking heads filled with garbage and leading humanity into an ever deepening abyss of ignorance and destruction.
