(This song sung by Louis Armstrong here was actually written for a bear in a Walt Disney film called The Jungle Book) 'Bare Necessities' is a phrase to describe the simple things of life - those that are necessary for our survival.
'The Bare Necessities' by Louis Armstrong
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Of mother's nature recipies
That bring the bare necessities of life
Wherever I wander,wherever I roam
I can't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzing in the trees
To make some honey just for me
You look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few
The bare necessities of life will come to you
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your stife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life
So just relax,yeah
in my backyard
If you act like the bee acts
You're workin' too hard
Don't spend your time, just lookin' around
For something you want, can't be found
You find out you can live without it
And go along, not thinking about it
I'll tell you something true
The bare necessities of life wïll come to you
They'll come to you, they'll come to you
They'll come to you, oh yes!
Biography of Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans on the 4th of August in 1901.
He came from an impoverished background. His grandparents had been slaves and he lived on a rundown estate called the "Battlefields" because of the range of social problems in the area like drunkeness, shootings, gambling and fighting.
When he was twelve years old he celebrated the New Year by firing a gun into the air and was arrested and taken to a reform school. Here he learned to sing and play the coronet, a trumpet like instrument. Once he was released he started to play with bands and learned to play the trumpet. During the 1930's Louis achieved world wide fame and travelled the globe.
By the end of his career in the 1960's he was considered to have been a major influence on popular music. He was known as an exremely generous man giving as much money away as he kept for himself.
He started out as an American Jazz Trumpeter but went on to establish himself as a vocalist and musical improviser and contributed towards the foundations of modern american music. He had a distinctive deep gravelly voice and many hit records and in 1964 knocked the Beatles off the top of the charts with "Hello Dolly. At the time he was 63 years of age and the oldest artist ever to have a hit single on the charts. He also appeared in more than a dozen Hollywood films. Forty years after his passing his records are even more popular than when he was alive and are broadcast all over the world. He never forgot his early life in the reform school and went back to visit often.
